Planning Ahead: The Best Time of Year to Book Your Mexican Christmas Vacation

When it comes to planning international travel, it’s always best to do it a little in advance. Between making sure you have your passport and converting your money to reserving a spot at your favorite location, there’s quite a bit of work to do.

This is especially true when you plan a seasonal getaway (travel during Thanksgiving, Christmas, or other winter holidays). Because these are the most popular times to travel, it’s always better to ensure that you have your place reserved, paid for, and ready to go.

When Should I Book My Vacation?

Here at Casa de la Sirena, we always suggest booking a Christmas beach vacation about eight months to a full year in advance. These are our busiest times, and we see quite a bit of repeat visitors who come back year after year to spend their holidays with us. While we do have plenty of space for new visitors, it’s better to book early. That way, you can reserve the perfect vacation accommodations for your group — and spend the rest of the time planning all the great activities you can do together!

Large parties (especially weddings, family reunions, and corporate retreats) should also plan on booking in advance, regardless of the time of year. Even a trip during the slower summer months is best reserved ahead of time, since we do have limited facilities for large parties.

Planning Your Trip

Once the reservations are in place, you can use your time to prepare for your trip and ensure that there are no last-minute rushes to get everything done. When traveling to Mexico, here are a few key tips:

  • Get a passport. You will need a passport to travel to and from Mexico and the United States. These take several months to process, so don’t put this off until the last minute. Additional considerations, like tourist cards and/or visas, may apply for your unique situation and should be looked in to ahead of time.
  • Exchange your currency. Although big expenditures (like your accommodations and big tourist expeditions) can be purchased on a credit or debit card, you’ll want cash for the smaller things. It’s usually easier to get this done at home, rather than waiting until you arrive.
  • Consider travel insurance. It’s not for everyone, but some people choose to travel as safely as possible. This might mean carrying special travel insurance for health, evacuation, or even potential cancellation issues.
  • Get immunized and follow health procedures. International travel precautions should always be taken. Get any immunizations recommended by the U.S. travel authorities, and be sure to study up on practical food safety practices, like not drinking the water or eating unwashed produce.
  • Learn a little Spanish. Here in Troncones, you’ll find that we are able to accommodate English speakers very well. However, we firmly believe you can enhance your international experience by learning a little of the language and preparing to engage the locals in conversation.
  • Set up an itinerary. Some travelers like to make plans as they go; others prefer to have their entire schedule planned out and ready to go. Either way, it’s a good idea to get your hands on a guidebook and read up on the area. You might find a few places you can’t miss while you’re here.
  • Book flights and other transportation methods. Like resort rates, you can often find the best prices for airline travel when you book in advance. Purchase your airline tickets and figure out how you intend to get around in Zihuatanejo and Troncones ahead of time, and you can save yourself a lot of money and effort.

The time is right to book your Mexican Christmas vacation — for this year or next year. We provide reservations well in advance, so its never too early to start planning your dream vacation and getting everything in order to enjoy Mexico the way it was meant to be enjoyed: stress-free!

Christmas in Zihuatanejo: Mexico Vacation Villa for the Whole Family!

Spending Christmas in Mexico is one of those things many people dream about — and with good reason. The weather along Mexico’s western coast is ideal during the month of December, with a warm glow in the mid-80s and just enough humidity to make the atmosphere seem tropical, but not stifling. Since most travelers are on their way from up north, where cold weather and even snow prevail, this represents a welcome change in climate.

Why Travel During the Christmas Season?

If taking a vacation during the most traditional time of the year seems odd to you, you aren’t alone. One of the most often-cited reasons for hesitating to book a trip during the Christmas season is what a departure it represents from the more common evergreen tree, cookies baking in the oven, and Santa singing in the background most people associate with the season. Here at Casa de la Sirena, we understand these hesitations — after all, you might have decades of family holidays at your back, and it can be hard to imagine anything else!

However, we believe in re-inventing the holidays your way. Mexico beach vacations are a great way to set the tone for future holidays in your family. Maybe you’ve just retired, and you want a break from tradition as you ease into your golden years. Perhaps you’re a newlywed, and you and your spouse want to get away for your first holiday season together. For many families, this is also a great opportunity to get everyone together. Instead of gathering at Grandma’s house this year, you can all step onto the shores near Zihuatanejo, where sun, sand, and relaxation await. Trust us, everyone will be sure and visit when Mexico is the setting for this year’s festivities.

Family Holidays in Mexico

In fact, Christmas Mexico vacation villas are most popular for families, and you’ll often find the same people returning year after year to enjoy the holiday spirit the Mexican way. That’s because you’ll find a unique mixture of tropical bliss and some of the more recognizable Christmas traditions. As a predominantly Catholic country, Mexico takes the Christmas season very seriously. You’ll find the shops and local sites draped in decorations, plenty of shoppers taking care of last-minute purchases, and religious ceremonies like midnight Mass or Christmas morning church service if you’d like to take a more reverent approach.

All of this is added on top of the more common beach activities found in the Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa region. Taking a few days to relax on the beach, enjoy the water activities, or even branch out and try a sunset horseback ride along the water’s edge are all great ways to spend some time with those you love.

Mexican beach resorts like Casa de la Sirena are fully equipped to handle all your holiday needs, which makes the experience that much better. Because we cater to families just like yours, we know what it takes to make a vacation getaway into a complete holiday experience. And our first piece of advice starts right now: book your Mexico Christmas vacation today. The rooms tend to fill up fast for the winter season months, and we want you to have plenty of time to prepare for the holiday season of a lifetime!

High Season at Casa de la Sirena in Troncones Mexico

Mexico vacation travel is fun any time of the year, but most people flock to the sandy beaches and sunny shores during the high season. Running from mid-November through Easter, this is the time of the year when the warm weather, low-key atmosphere, and luxury amenities appeal the most to vacationers. There is no better time to step away from the winter blahs and enjoy a family getaway than during this busy, holiday season when the Mexican coast is at its peak.

In fact, many locals would argue that November and December are the best months for visiting the Troncones Mexico vacation region. That’s because there is still a lush, tropical background from the preceding rainy season, but with the benefit of weather that isn’t stifling or overly humid.

The High Season and Holidays

During the high season travel period, there are also the holidays to consider. From Thanksgiving and Christmas through New Year’s, traditional United States holidays are an ideal time to travel. Not only can you bring the family together and celebrate in a way that you will remember for decades, but the atmosphere in Mexico during this time is a lot different than what you’ll find during spring break or other popular summer travel months.

With a heavier emphasis on families, couples, and spending some quieter time with those you love, travel during the holiday season means that you can avoid many of the younger crowds associated with Mexico beach rentals and the metropolitan centers.

High Season Activities

Of course, if Troncones is your destination, you already know that something a little bit lower-key is more your style. While you’ll find the same great stretches of sand and Mexico vacation opportunities, the focus here is less on partying and more on making the most of every minute. In fact, that’s why so many of our visitors are here for a second, third, or fifth time. We know how to transform a vacation into a serene, tropical getaway that will keep you revitalized until the next time you can pay us a visit.

In order to help you enjoy your vacation your way, Casa de la Sirena offers a host of activities designed to make the most out of the weather and ambiance of the high season. The climate rests comfortably between the low seventies to the high eighties, making it possible to enjoy everything you love.

For those who seek a spa-like setting, we offer yoga facilities and regular massages. These types of activities make it easy to enjoy a holistic vacation whether you’re alone or with the whole family.

Surfing and fishing are among the more popular sporting activities here, and the water and weather during the high season combine to make the most out them both. During the tides, the waves are high, especially along the coast near Troncones, with more quiet and settled water in the coves ideal for catching a few fish to grill up for dinner.

A day at the beach is always in order, and the lower high season temperatures mean that you can enjoy beachcombing or lying in the sand throughout the day. After all, there’s nothing better than going home after a winter vacation with a tan, sun-soaked glow!

From sun and sand to food and fun, Troncones offers the best way to avoid a mid-winter slump. Traditionally, the high season is one of the more popular parts of the year to visit Troncones, so the time to book your Mexico beach vacation is now. Whether you want a holiday retreat or a way to escape the cloudy skies of January back home, Troncones is waiting.

Holidays in the Tropics – The Best It Can Get!

This year, imagine Thanksgiving or Christmas vacation in an oceanfront Mexican beach villa! Whether you are escaping to the joyous culmination of all those plans for the perfect tropical holiday family reunion, or have made a last minute decision to take some “couples” quality time, getting away for the holidays is so much more than a chance to give yourself an incredible gift — in a place like Mexico, where sun, sand, and surf await every month out of the year, it’s also a way to recharge your life and to experience another culture’s holiday traditions.

Although the Thanksgiving holiday is only observed in the United States, you’ll find that the Christmas holiday gears up early in Mexico bringing with it a joyous thanksgiving for life. And you can enjoy a seasonal retreat that’s as festive as it is relaxing. Smiling faces, village fiestas, friendly people and the culture steeped in tradition, Christmas in Mexico is simply enchanting.

The Christmas season is a festive time of the year for Mexicans. Parties are common, and food and drink flow in abundance. Many local festivals take place, and you can participate as much or as little as you want. In most locations, you can expect the festivities to really start gearing up in mid-December and continue all the way into January.

The scenery around the holidays is also an enjoyable sight. Although you won’t find the traditional evergreens favored in the United States, there are plenty of lights, explosions of color, and decorations to keep your holiday spirit firmly intact. Most Mexican residents are Catholic, so many of the more somber traditions are present, too, including Mass and religious festivals that put a heavy focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

Winter Weather at Your Mexico Beach Villa

One of the best reasons to spend your holiday in Mexico is the weather. A far cry from snow and freezing temperatures, Troncones and the surrounding areas of Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo enjoy an average temperature between 70 and 88 degrees in the months of November and December, with warm, balmy breezes to take all your cares away. By this time, the rainy season has already passed, so you’ll get to enjoy sun and sand almost every day out of the week. By late November, most of the hurricane worries have passed, as well, so you get to take advantage of Mexican weather at its best.

What to Expect During Your Stay

If you plan on remaining here through the Christmas holiday, expect the shopping and tourist districts to pick up at a frantic pace! Liked everywhere, people are rushed to buy gifts for friends and loved ones. Many government facilities close to allow the workers to enjoy time with their families. It’s a great time for “people watching.”

Give the Gift of Travel

One of the best things about spending Christmas in Mexico is that you can bring your whole family along with you! Troncones vacation villas make it easy to invite dozens of guests, and you can all stay in the same luxury accommodations and enjoy the holiday as a group. There is perhaps no holiday gift quite as great as opportunities to surf, sunbathe, and explore Mexico together. The Casa de la Sirena beachfront compound in the beautiful village of Troncones offers the opportunity for you to rent your own private Mexican villa even if there are only two of you (or 20!).

Of course, if you’re using holiday travel to get away from the family, we can help with that, too. Private villas make it easy to enjoy your time away with all the rest and relaxation you need to start the new year afresh!
